Program Description
The Health and Leadership Program for Youth (HLPY) is a summer opportunity for girls (ages 16-18) from traditionally underserved communities. This program provides “hands on” experience working in a community setting designed to address unique gender bias, broaden the definition of science and health, and provide exposure to positive role models, all within the context of community contribution.
The Health and Leadership Program for Youth consists of 15-20 high school students selected by a committee to participate in a Summer Internship. The program aims to select girls who are from the diverse communities of San Francisco who have a strong interest in medicine, science, public health, health administration, and health policy and a motivation to learn.
