Dr. Carolyn Sufrin is a member of the UCSF Ob/Gyn & Reproductive Sciences faculty and an obstetrician-gynecologist at San Francisco General Hospital. She also provides Ob/Gyn services at the San Francisco County Jail. Dr. Sufrin has written an insightful piece about her experiences as a prison obstetrician, delivering babies whose mothers are shackled to the bed. Her informative opinion essay helps forward understanding of the importance of protecting the health and well being of all women, regardless of their status in society.
